BEAVERIn their invitation for me to join them in PNG for a ‘Just Completed Translation, Bible Dedication Celebration’, my hosts included a WHAT TO EXPECT list. I’ve condensed the main points here:

‘Bathing is done in the river in the middle of the village where everyone sees us. Bring your togs.‘Toilets – there are none!  We may have an outhouse by then.

‘Malaria is prevalent. We drink papaya leaf tea as a prophylaxis. It tastes awful!

‘You can sleep on the sand under the stars or under a tin, or maybe thatch, roof (which may leak in the rain).

‘There are no beds. We sleep on rough timber.  A pillow will be your folded clothing, a towel or bamboo.

Grab a moment and google this short testimony by my “chocolate daughter”! You will be blessed …

``Losing and Gaining a Father - Lydia Teera 1/2``
``Losing and Gaining a Father - Lydia Teera 2/2``

This is only an abbreviation of Lydia’s whole story but it will give you a glimpse of one challenge she has met in her life and how our Father’s grace has moved her forward into a major wholesome ministry.

It is individuals like Lydia who really encourage us in this outreach that Laura and I do. She is an example of the vision and passion that leaders exhibit in accepting any life challenge. She is one reward of your intercession expressed on our behalf.
